This is a reminder that trash/recycling will be operating on a one-day delay next week due to the Labor Day holiday.  Trash and recycling will be picked up on Thursday, September 5, 2019.  Please be sure to roll your carts to the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Thank you and enjoy a safe holiday.

It has come to the attention of the town that some residents aren't putting their trash/recycling out by 7:00 a.m.  Please note that roll out containers need to be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.  Waste Pro begins picking up trash at 7:00 a.m. and all carts should be out at the curb by this time.

If your cart is not at the curb by 7:00 a.m. and Waste Pro has already been through your neighborhood, they will not come back.  They have plenty of homes to collect from and cannot take the time to go back through an area they've already been through so please be sure to have your carts to the curb by 7:00 a.m.  The Trash Ordinance has been changed to allow residents to put carts out as early as 5:00 p.m. the day before trash is collected so if you do not want to get up early to put it out, you have the option of putting it out the evening before.

Also, there are cameras and GPS tracking devices on their trucks to know where they have been and at what time so please do not call in a miss if your trash was not out by 7:00 a.m. They will be able to tell exactly when they were at a particular address and if your carts were out at that time.

Should you need to call Waste Pro for a missed pickup, trash/recycling bins or schedule a bulk pickup, the number is: 980-255-3800 or visit the Public Works page on the left hand column under Garbage Information and use the links to report any issues.

Other points to keep in mind:

Absolutely no construction material will be picked up. All bulky items such as old appliances, furniture, equipment, etc. must be scheduled and called in for pickup as well as any trash that exceeds what can fit in your cart.  Government regulations prohibit waste providers from taking construction debris, TV's, computers & related equipment and tires to a landfill. Additionally, paint, batteries, automotive fluids, pool chemicals and florescent bulbs and tubes cannot be picked up.  These items can be taken directly to the Fox Hole Recycling Center located at 17131 Lancaster Hwy., 704-341-4962.

There was a new trash ordinance that went into effect recently that was put in place to strengthen regulations governing trash so that carts or large piles of trash aren't sitting out at the curb for days. Plus, it spells out specifically when trash cans can be placed at the curb and at what time they need to be removed from the curb. The previous regulations were vague and needed to be more defined. We all want to keep Pineville looking nice.
