Signature Waste trash cans should have been removed by now for residential trash service as we transition over to using the services of Waste Pro.  All residents should now have two new rollouts from Waste Pro - a green cart for regular household trash and a blue one for recyclables. If you are a resident and have not received your carts from Waste Pro, then please call Town Hall immediately at 704-889-2291 or Waste Pro directly at 980-255-3800.

Waste Pro's contract with the town was designed to match as much of Signature Waste's contract as possible so there should be very few changes to the rules/regulations for trash pickup.  Waste Pro has kept the same pickup schedule as Signature Waste. Load sizes should be the same or very close to what Signature Waste was picking up.  Tree limbs and yard waste will still be picked up on Wednesday's along with regular household trash.  Tree limbs still need to be cut down to a manageable size and stacked in small piles at the curb. Only yard waste generated by the homeowner will be picked up - all contractors must remove the debris they generate.

Absolutely no construction material will be picked up. All bulky items such as old appliances, furniture, equipment, etc. must be scheduled and called in for pickup as well as any trash that exceeds what can fit in your cart.  Government regulations prohibit waste providers from taking construction debris, TV's, computers & related equipment and tires to a landfill. Additionally, paint, batteries, automotive fluids, pool chemicals and florescent bulbs and tubes cannot be picked up.  These items can be taken directly to the Fox Hole Recycling Center located at 17131 Lancaster Hwy., 704-341-4962.

There was a new trash ordinance that went into effect recently that was put in place to strengthen regulations governing trash so that carts or large piles of trash aren't sitting out at the curb for days. Plus, it spells out specifically when trash cans can be placed at the curb and at what time they need to be removed from the curb. The previous regulations were vague and needed to be more defined. We all want to keep Pineville looking nice.
