Blue-Green Algae detected at Lake Park lake

The Town of Pineville has been working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services division on testing Lake Park lake for blue-green algae. CMSWS confirmed today that there was a presence of blue-green algae in a section of the lake. The town has posted warning signs around the lake and is prohibiting fishing until further notice in the lake. Also, it is advised that people do not come in to contact with the water or let pets swim or drink from the lake as a precaution. The town is actively working with CMSWS and private companies to come up with a solution to get rid of the blue-green algae. We will work to keep you posted of the resolution and when it is safe to again fish in the lake. Please contact Ryan Spitzer at 704-889-2291 or rspitzer@pinevillenc.gov for any questions.
