September 29, 2020  PLEASE NOTE:  Junk Week is for residents that are located within Pineville Town Limits -- If you live in Danby, Cardinal Woods, Winghurst, Bridlestone or any of the communities south of the McAlpine Creek on Lancaster Hwy., you are in an unincorporated Mecklenburg Co. area and not eligible for this service...thank you.

It's finally here!  Junk Week is coming for one week only - October 19th-23rd, 2020!

Thanks all, for your patience during this most unusual of times.  We are gearing up for the week when Pineville residents can clean up and clear out any old or unwanted items.  Beginning the weekend of October 17th, residents can begin to stack your items at the curb in the front of your home for pickup by town employees.  This service is being offered by the Town of Pineville and not through our garbage collection company and it's being offered FREE of charge to Pineville residents.

Each day throughout the week, members of our Public Works team will be driving through town to collect your unwanted items such as old furniture, appliances, housewares, etc. that are stacked (neatly please) along the curb for pickup.  There is no need to call in a bulk pickup as employees will pickup whatever they see at the curb.  However, we do have some basic rules in place that we would like you to adhere to:

• Minor renovation, flooring and other construction debris is acceptable ONLY if it is a reasonable amount; metal or wood posts or planks should not exceed 4 feet in length and all nails or other hazardous items removed or nailed down safely for pickup without injury
• Absolutely no excrement, bodily fluids or other biohazardous material of any kind will be picked up
• We can no longer pick up paint or petroleum products of any kind
• Items must be taken to the curb for pickup; employees are not permitted to go into your house to remove items or move them for you. Additionally, we do not want to take town trucks into your alleyways so please take your items to the front of the house to be picked up safely and easily
• Separate glass or other breakable items from any wood, metal, plastic or other products you put out at the curb
• Please be respectful of our employees. They have the right to refuse pickup of items they deem unsafe or hazardous.

Please allow the entire week for Public Works to pick up whatever you have out as they may not be able to collect everything that is out each day.  They have their normal work to accomplish as well as this additional task.  If your items have been out for several days and no one has been by to pick up your items, please call Public Works at 704-889-7467 to let them know so they can circle back to collect your items.

As long as these rules are followed and good, common safety sense is used, this program will continue to run. We appreciate your cooperation.
