Pineville Parks & Recreation

Take Action to Improve Your Health

For many Americans, meeting the daily physical activity recommendations can be a challenge. Between work, family and everyday responsibilities, it can be difficult to find the time to put personal health and wellness needs first.  Local park and recreation agencies can offer a solution to that challenge. In fact, people who use parks and open spaces are three times more likely to achieve the recommended levels of physical activity than nonusers.

Parks and recreation provide crucial health and wellness opportunities for all populations in communities across the country. As America continues to face serious health issues including rising rates of chronic disease, more time being sedentary, and a decline in time spent outdoors, park and recreation agencies offer an affordable and accessible solution. Encouraging communities to explore local parks and recreation this spring and summer is a great way to help individuals meet the daily physical activity recommendations.

Pineville Parks and Recreation offers citizens endless opportunities to achieve your fitness and wellness goals at our indoor/outdoor walking tracks, playgrounds, gym, racquetball court, fitness classes, athletic fields, and more. For more information on our health and fitness opportunities check out our website:    or call 704-889-2400.

Eating one green vegetable per day or one leafy green is a great way to get yourself healthier in the kitchen without much thought. It can be a cup of broccoli at dinner or spinach snuck into a smoothie. A cup of green beans at dinner or some leafy kale tossed with chopped sweet potato and some simple seasonings. Anything counts, just make sure it’s green, natural, and from the earth. These foods provide us with more nutrition than any food out there. They alkalize our bodies, promote mental wellness, and protect us from major forms of disease.

 Cline's Country Antiques

Donald Cline has always had a love for old things. Living on land that has been in his family for 200 years has nurtured his love and respect for the past.  With diverse degrees from poultry science to economics, and even a time in the Navy Reserves, he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do with his life. He enjoyed attending the many rural auctions in the area and started collecting by the truck load. It quickly outgrew his home and barn. In 1975, the family decided to quit farming. With numerous barns now empty, Don collected even more. In 1977 he opened Clines Country Antiques on the old home place in Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina. In 1980 he left his teaching career to devote all his time "junk".

In the 30 years that he has operated, he has been involved supplying decor and signage to many restaurants. Cline's Antiques has provided set decor and props for many major movies such as "The Color Purple."

In 1986, he co-authored "Buying and Selling Antiques: A Dealers Inside View."  He has been featured in numerous newspaper articles, magazines such as "Our State," and on Home and Garden TV.

Cline hates to throw anything away.  He knows that somewhere, someone may need or want that very thing. This is not a "prissy" place. Come dressed prepared to rummage and wander over acres of things.

When:  Thursday April 26, 2018

Time:  We will leave the center at 9am. We will stop for lunch and be back around 3:30pm.
