Parks and Rec Commission Opening
The Parks and Rec Commission has an opening for a resident of Pineville to represent the southern Towns.
Park and Recreation Commission Role:
The Park and Recreation Commission is charged with advising the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners of all matters affecting recreation programs, personnel, finances and in acquisition and disposal of lands and properties related to all aspects of the County park and recreation program. The Park and Recreation Commission is active in advising on long-range planning activities for the department. Park and Recreation Commissioners are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve three-year terms with no one serving more than two consecutive terms.
Park and Recreation Commission Qualifications:
Three members representing each of the three regions North, South and Central, 1 member representing the northern towns, 1 member representing the southern towns and 2 At-Large members. Must be a resident of Mecklenburg County.
Park and Recreation Commission Responsibilities:
Park and Recreation Commissioner appointments are 3 year terms with no one serving more than two consecutive terms. The PRC meet monthly, every 2nd Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. held at various Park & Recreation locations.
Each Park and Recreation Commissioner meeting must have at least seven Commissioners present to satisfy quorum
Each Commissioner is required to commit at least 10 hours per month for responsibilities to this position without any type of stipend. In addition to your role, you will be overseeing an advisory council.
