Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Team

The Pineville Police Department believes it must collaborate with the communities we serve to effectively prevent crime and disorder. To facilitate collaboration, we must build trust, legitimacy, and satisfaction with our community members. With this in mind, we view every interaction between a citizen and an officer as an opportunity to forge a relationship and build trust.

To ensure our success, we created a Community Outreach Team that focuses on community engagement full-time, and we have encouraged every member of our department to participate in community outreach activities during their free time.

Some great examples of our commitment to the community can be seen the photo gallery on this page, from talks with civic organizations, to presentations with youth groups, to a recent senior visit to the Pineville Police Station.

Town of Pineville’s Co-Responder

In addition to our Community Outreach team, Pineville employes a co-responder to assist with additional support for the Police Department.

After eight years of service as a police officer, Allison transitioned into the field of social work to focus on supporting individuals experiencing mental health and other crises. She earned a joint Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University.

Allison has extensive experience providing mobile crisis services and joined the Charlotte Police Department’s co-response team in 2019. During this time, she supervised 12 clinicians and assisted with the development of a co-responder position in Davidson, North Carolina.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Allison brings a unique dual perspective to crisis response, combining law enforcement experience with clinical expertise. She currently serves the Town of Pineville by working alongside officers to respond to calls involving mental health concerns, homelessness, family conflict, and substance use.

Allison provides on-scene support, follow-up case management, and connection to community resources, helping to promote safer outcomes, reduce repeat calls for service, and strengthen trust between the police department and the community.
